25 Dec Ibiza Destination Wedding Photographer Website: Selia Photography
I must admit this is one of my favorite works so far. I was actually in a wedding celebration in Morocco when I received her first email. Funny because she is actually a Ibiza destination wedding photographer and she found me through my wedding invitations website (Lovers Love Loving). All about love ♥
She was thinking on re-designing her branding and website and she wanted me to do it. She showed me which of my works she loved and her favorite colors; but she literally told me that I had freedom to create anything I wanted. It’s kind of scary when someone tells you she loves everything you do because then her expectations can be too high.
But I went into it. And she loved it. And me too. And everything is soooo exciting! I can’t wait to tell you all about it, so there I go.
The branding was based on a golden leaf wreath that I drawn specially for her. Starting from that I created different logo options to fit all the possible applications she may need. You can see the logo with just two leafs on the sides, another option with the wreath all over the logo and finally an icon with her initial.
Since she loved my watercolor paintings, I didn’t wanted to miss the opportunity to add them in her new branding design, so I painted a series of flowers and leaves in grey-blue and green tones.
From there I started designing her website. The result is a responsive layout combining the golden details with the watercolor paintings and a very clean and neat design. I absolutely love it. And I had so much fun coding it from scratch…! Really, it was hard, but totally worth it.
She wanted to have her website in two languages: English and Deutch (She is a destination wedding photographer in Ibiza and Germany, but she lives in Germany and many of her clients are from there). Translating is not such a big deal, but it was my first time coding the website so that it takes a different logo for every language. YAY!!
Also, for the different areas of the homepage and all the information under every portfolio project she adds, I created a very easy to fill structure for her. Like this she can change and add more content anytime she needs without needing to know nothing about website coding!
Since the start I had in mind the handicap of needing to work hard on SEO, because as I told you before websites based on pictures are not the best for SEO. Google does not read images (yet), so without a blog or long texts isn’t easy to rank well on the search engines. But we came up with a pretty good result. The homepage has the best keywords as titles, plus we repeat them again in the text. Also, the portfolios have as much information as possible and external links to connect her with the other wedding providers she has worked with.
